Concrete Contractors Vancouver

Concrete work was part of Roka before the company name was on renovation sites across Greater Vancouver. We're formworkers who run full-scope concrete projects: demolition, excavation, base prep, formwork, reinforcement, pour, and finishing.

Types of Concrete Work We Do

Driveways & Parking Pads

Removal, base prep, reinforcement, and placement, with the drainage planning that Vancouver rain demands.

Stairs, Walkways & Entries

From functional stair and walkway replacements to full custom entries, including floating-look stairs with lighting formed right in. Built to code rise-and-run, sloped and drained, finished for grip in the wet.

Patios

Broom, exposed aggregate, or smooth finishes. An outdoor surface built on proper base prep, not just a slab on grade.

Retaining Walls

Poured concrete and block walls, engineered where height requires it. We wrote a full breakdown of what retaining walls cost in Vancouver, using real project numbers.

Heated Driveways & Walkways

Electric or hydronic snow-melt systems formed into the pour. A driveway that clears itself instead of being shoveled, and an entry that never needs salt. Planned before the concrete goes down, because it can't be added after.

Concrete Planters

Cast-in-place planters, formed as part of stairs, walls, and entries or standing alone. Built with drainage and waterproofing so they hold gardens, not water against your foundation.

Structural Concrete

Footings, foundation walls, grade beams, and pads, as part of structural work, additions, and renovations, coordinated with licensed structural engineers.

Removal & Replacement

Cracked steps, failing walkways, settled slabs, spalling walls. Our usual answer is remove and replace, not patch. A patch over failing concrete is temporary by design, because whatever caused the failure is still underneath it.

What Does Concrete Work Cost in Vancouver?

Real numbers from our own projects: a concrete driveway we completed in North Vancouver came in around $19,900 (2025). At the other end, a fully engineered poured-concrete retaining wall in New Westminster ran $125,000. The complete breakdown is in our retaining wall cost blog post. We have a $5,000 minimum project size; smaller concrete repairs are handled through our 360 Homecare service, our home maintenance membership.

What moves the number:

Demolition and disposal

Breaking out and hauling old concrete is real money. On the New Westminster wall it was roughly a third of the project.

Access

The concrete gets there one way or another. The question is what it takes. A line pump running a couple of 20-foot hoses to a front driveway is one cost; fifteen hoses snaking around the house to the backyard is another. A boom truck can reach right over the house, when wires, trees, and everything else allow it. And on some waterfront lots, the truck and pump arrive by barge.

Base and drainage conditions

Vancouver's rain and clay soils mean base prep and drainage decide how long the work lasts.

Reinforcement and engineering

Structural elements and retaining walls over about 4 feet need an engineer, typically $2,000 to $6,000+.

Finish

Exposed aggregate and specialty finishes cost more than broom finish.

Like everything we build, concrete work is priced open-book: actual cost of labour, materials, and any subtrades, plus our stated management fee. Costs shown include our management fee and exclude GST.

How We

Manage Concrete Projects

Before the Pour: Where the Project Is Actually Decided

Custom concrete on challenging sites is hard to price accurately. A confident fixed number on a complicated site is really a guess with a contingency hidden inside it. We provide an estimate of what the work will cost, and we scope what actually drives it, base condition, drainage, formwork, reinforcement, before that estimate exists. We also tell you up front which other parties your project needs: complicated concrete, and anything at a property line or near the water, can involve a surveyor to establish where the line actually is, a structural engineer, a geotechnical engineer, an architect to draw it up, and on waterfront sites, Fisheries approval. Where a retaining wall triggers a permit, the municipality-by-municipality requirements are in our retaining wall cost guide. You see the plan, the parties, and the numbers before we book a pour date.

During the Work: Weather-Called, Documented Daily

Concrete in Vancouver is scheduled around rain, and we'd rather move a pour than place a slab in weather that compromises it. Daily logs with photos go to your client portal, and any change to scope comes to you priced, in writing, before it happens.

Formwork In-House, Placers and Finishers We Trust

We're not a concrete placing company. We're formworkers, and on a concrete project the formwork decides whether the finished work is straight, plumb, and exactly where it's supposed to be. We take on the complicated formwork, up to and including West Vancouver waterfront projects where the concrete has to arrive by barge. We form and pour some walls with our own crew; on other walls and on all flatwork, placing and finishing are done by the concrete placers and finishers we use across our projects. Either way we run the full scope: one contractor accountable for everything from demolition to the finished surface. Where a wall or footing needs a professional engineer, we work with licensed structural engineers and build exactly what they stamp.
